Episode 9 - Saturday, June 7th, 2008 - 7:00PM EST

Topic ideas
  • Hate: What game do you hate and why? What game mechanic do you hate, and why?
  • DLC/Nickel'n'Dimed: What are your thoughts on buying "incomplete" games. Nickle/Diming. DLC content. The whole gamut!
  • Project Updates: Anyone? Have you guys been working on your projects? Speak up! Get the board kicking again!
  • Expenses: Every hobby has its expenses. How much money do you think you pour into game development each month/year/whatever? Do you often buy stuff to aid your development process. Do you have a website? All of this stuff has costs.
  • The "Groove": Sort of like motivation, but talk about your rituals/whatnot that you do in order to get into gear for coding
  • Resources: What are your favorite sites to visit for information? Where do get your vast knowlege? Books?
  • Hidden Stats: Do you use them? What do you think about them?
  • High scores: Rockin' it old school? Discuss. What makes of breaks high-score games for you?
  • Trix are for kids: favorite development trick/hack/etc
  • Python: Love it, or hate it, but you can still use it to make games!
  • Indie buying: Talk about an indie game you bought and why. What made it worth the money?
A lot of this is borrowed from the ones we didn't use last time. As usual, your ideas are appreciated.

Didn't we already talk about User Generated Content? :P

I'll try to think of some ideas later.

You are correct. I've removed it from the list.

Bad powerups in games. Should they exist?

Should AI be allowed to cheat? Does this simply increase the challenge?

Customization of things in games. What should and / or shouldn't be customizable?

Yeah I've been playing Mario Kart again. :P

As soon as I saw "bad powerups" I knew the rest must have some Connection to MK. ;)

I'd like to discuss some of the complexities and difficulties we're facing while trying to do this month's challenge. Has anyone else started besides me? It would be cool to talk about on this show.

Just your friendly update reminder that the recording date is coming up tomorrow. Anyone know for sure whether they will attend?

I suppose I'll be on standby. If you don't have a full roster come 7:00 I'll jump in.

Recording session is over. I don't have time for editing tonight, so the show will most likely be up sometime tomorrow afternoon. I think you guys can wait until then. ;)

I was waylaid by an unexpected migraine and had to skip this session. But that's okay, because the Python topic finally got covered :)

If volume is the seed of wisdom, I surely won the argument.

Haha, great.
The Deus Ex stuff was kinda lost on me thought.

It's an inside joke starting from the first episode that featured the Juicy Tidbits topic. It's probably hard to keep track of it all when they are months apart. For the people who are part of it, though, you never forget the insanity that goes on and is kept out of the actual end production. :)

Ah, guess I should revisit the older episodes again.

He he, I don't think sonrisu even put all of the juicy outtakes in there. We wasted so much time stalling him from doing his favorite weapon in a game that he decided to start the whole thing over again.

Twice. :P

/me has a crapload of juicy outtakes saved to disk.

There was just too much stuff. It didn't fit in the duration of the outtro song -- and I didn't want to overdo it, either. :)

Lol, you should do a juicy tidbits special with all outtakes.

I plan on, maybe on the 1 year anniversary of the podcast, putting out a "best of" episode that takes all the good discussions and funny outtakes and munges them all into one big retrospective. Easy for the participants (you don't have to do anything), tough on me (I have to edit it all).
