Sure, beta is going to be open to whoever asks, but you'll have to deal with a beta version, so none of the graphics seen here will actually be in yet.

Eventually the new graphics will go in, but for now we want to test the game a little. The right math should be in, so gameplay should at least feel like the final thing.

I'll supply an image of the google thing as soon as I can, but don't get your hopes up, cause it's just a nearest neighbour zoom of the map. Looks pretty ugly, but that's pretty normal for developer tools. There's no reason for it to look polished for us...

I'd be interested in doing a little beta. I don't think I could say you could depend on me to be some sort of super-beta tester who will writeup tons of reports and such. But I really wouldn't mind poking here and there and letting you know what works and doesn't work. Additionally, I'm on a Mac, so I could help work out any browser/flash/whatever problems that might arise.

Mostly, I just want to see what's going on. I like sneak peeks! :)

The fact that you're on a Mac might be really significant. It's a Java game, so normally it should just work, but we all know how that goes usually...

Thanks for the offer :)

Beta will commence once I finish the GUI. I'd love to squeeze in the characters I've shown here, but the tiles will be old ugly stuff unfortunately.

Another sneak preview here. No one saw this stuff before. Project is a little quiet due to school commitments.

Programmer stats for December:

Metrics:
Lines of code: 31214 (+3092)
Number of source files: 302 (+17)

Here's a small tool I made in Game Maker (handy for developing some tools now and then)

http://fto.game-designer.org/preview/Preview.rar

Keys are in the readme. Doesn't do much for now, but I plan on using it to test out all the animations in real-time.

We're slowly making a beta ready. I think most stuff is geared towards getting a battle system going.

Meanwhile I keep working on graphics

Another exclusive for you guys :)
The gear for knightly types

They are indeed very nice. Are you going to have different skin colours as well?

In theory it's possible, but it complicates matters. NPCs in skin colours is easy, PCs, not so much. I'll do my best in any case.

I'll post some more art of the medium armor variety later today. I have chain mail, studded leather and fancy leather stuff ready. I'm now doing some black quality leather stuff.
