Looks like that spider put them down pretty hard! Have you thought about making the spider fall down from the sky, landing with an earth-shaking thud, instead of phasing into existence? Maybe even a shadow effect as he nears landing. That would be awesome. I'm also thinking something about baby spiders.

The plan is to have it drop in from the sky, but for now I just trigger it with a hotkey whenever I feel like it :)

I wanna see the spider come out from the background over the other layers. Maybe that's a technical nightmare but it just makes sense!

I don't think it's really practical this time around. I *could* do it, but I think I'd rather just have it drop in and put a good smashing on the ground. The other bosses could have different entrances, though.

I'm coming up with a list of unique ground-type enemies. I'd like to have a good variety before I continue working on this. Right now it's too... plain.

I think the spider should use one of its legs to grab one of the competitors at random, then lift them up in the air and shake them like a doll, finally throwing them to the ground for massive damage. During this process, you can inflict greater damage on the spider, because his shields go down as he revels in his power. Ultimately you have to sacrifice one of your little dudes in order to defeat the spider.

While that's certainly inspired, the objective is to keep everyone alive until you reach the final boss ;)

This update applies to all my game projects, not just this one.

I have successfully tied SFXR's FM synth into Allegro. Now I can generate (and modulate) my sound effects procedurally. I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this.
