I agree about the CVania 2 look and it is awesome. That was one of my favorite games of all time. The day/night cycles are something that blew my mind as a kid and I went to implement it in my own games someday.

Your games are rock awesome gothic.

i'm totally feeling zombified...

updates:
- server stores player state
- all menus, shops, inventory updated to use server based player state
- can now send feedback from the main menu
- can view players in the land (any players active in last 5 minutes)
- server now stores the global item list
- started moving game data files to the server which are downloaded to memory at runtime.
- no login required - player's have randomly generated access keys. this will eventually be updated to include encryption of game data.
- general bug fixes.
- can continue playing characters saved on the server after closing/reopening

i dropped a bunch of to-do tickets to reduce the work load for the beta. this will allow players to go through the puzzle maps and complete the game without any extra side quests in. i'll have to slowly roll out the side quests.

edit: so, i guess the game officially has a multiplayer persistent world now... damn, that's cool. wow it's been a long weekend :D

14 to-do tickets left.

updates:
- lots of bug fixes
- scoring system implemented
- can now register as a citizen of the town to set your player's name
- new puzzle each time you go to combat map
- feature complete for beta version

there are basically only 2 bugs preventing me from making the beta public. they could be an easy fix, but i'm too tired to figure it out.

plus, i should get some sleep so i can think if there is anything else i should do.

the 2 bugs holding up the beta have been fixed.

if you'd like to try it out you can find it here:

http://garden.thehideoutgames.com/download/release/0.1/0.1.zip

note: mining gems and unlocking doors takes multiple presses of the action button to collect/unlock. this isn't obvious because there are no sounds yet.

Oh. Yeah, the missing MSVC DLL problem. Man, that bit me in the ass so many times over the years :(

It wants MSVCR100D.

ah, yes, it's the msvc runtimes.

zip file is updated.

i added msvcr100d and msvcp100d. these 2 usually do the trick. are there any others missing? can you post the dll names please?

No, that seemed to do that trick.

Although, now it just dumps some stuff to a command console. I see a garden.exe window as well, but it won't let me switch to it. Every time I try, it just stays in the background, never moves to the foreground. So....yeah.

thanks mandrake. i'm wondering if it's something with coherentui. if you leave the program running for ~30 seconds or so, does it fully start? also, what are the last few lines in the command console that you see?

thanks.

watcher detected change in filesystem, verifying
<watcher> handle signal received.

Also, left it open for about a minute, nada. Here's what I see:

But when I click on Garden Test, nothing happens. It doesn't even show me the window, it just minimizes, like the window is hidden behind everything else, if that makes sense.
