I like that one too. Been thinking about making a series of drawings depicting gaming/home-computing/nerd-culture in the early days. Or maybe it could be a theme for a demo or something.

Fifth month of 'daily composition' (started recording some too a few days ago to get used to drawing while 'feeling observed': https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLxgy4RtmdJltgd4wa0Ed2sWiwdsAef2MQ ):

Thanks and yeah, they are much higher quality than my own stuff, copied(eyeballed not traced) those from that Hultgren book carefully and slowly reproduced the constructions without a time limit whereas the daily composition exercise is one where the goal is to draw an imagined scene or a scene from memory within a 15 minutes time limit, free, raw doodling for a natural progression of skill over a long period of time without worrying too much and without any of the tedium involved in proper construction or the pressure-inducing goal to produce only masterful artworks.

The ultimate goal (long term, lifelong study thing methinks and impossible to ever be "done" with it) is to be able to draw anything from imagination freely which I have come to believe requires practicing drawing/constructing from imagination without references much more than what's usually recommended (practicing from life or photo references) which seems to only improve ones abilities to be a boring human camera but leaves one baffled and clueless when facing the task to draw something from imagination, staring at a blank canvas without any references there to guide the mind.

i put the Art of Animal Drawing on my list of books to get.

0xDB, have you seen Scott Robertson's books on the "draw through" method and rendering?

https://www.amazon.com/How-Draw-sketching-environments-imagination/dp/1933492732/
https://www.amazon.com/How-Render-fundamentals-shadow-reflectivity/dp/1933492961/

Both of these books leveled up my drawing pretty hard.

Yeah, I have both of those books on my shelf and several others more. There was a time where I collected one to two books per month 'for studying when I will have the time for it'... :P The Nicolaides book is pretty time consuming though and kinda exhausted me through chapters 1 to 8(with 3h of drawing per day and that's not enough), trying to get back into it. Time is not the real issue anyway. :D
