Maybe not. I guess the thing to realize is there aren't as many of them out there as say Amiga's or Commodore 64's. On average I'm seeing them for between $400-$600, or a broken one for $200. This might be a passive thing I wait for.

Trivia, from Reddit.

I certainly do :). I'm almost as south as you can get (without living at the border), in that yellow splotch.

It's way nicer on the other side of the country though, just north of Seattle (i.e. Vancouver area). <3

Well I may have found a complete but "broken" SGI O2 system for $100. Only downside I need to drive ~3 hours there and back to pick it up.

I'm probably not going to find a better deal. I just hope what's broken isn't anything that requires intimate knowledge of SGIs.

Here's a memory trip. This forum over here:

http://forums.nekochan.net

It's probably the biggest hobbyist SGI owner forum on the internet. I can't explain it, but that artwork and them running PHPbb totally gives me a Tsugumo's Lair vibe (at least the forum, that a number of us frequented).

Oh they were founded in 2003, so it's pretty old too. :)

I got to watch the Assembly stream for 1K, 4K, 64K, and Demo, plus the studio sessions :D

I missed out on Oldskool, but caught up thanks to Youtube. Great showing this year.

I've seen everything but demo. Saw some of it, but not the whole thing.

It's not been bad, but I get the impression Breakpoint tends to have a better show. I still like Assembly though. ;)

Assembly is really inconsistent. This was a great year, by all accounts. 1K and 64K didn't have a great showing, but the other categories did (4K, Oldskool, Demo). And since they partnered with Twitch their stream has been watchable ;)

Yeah. I like to think I played a small part in that (I kept bugging Truck about it who knows the people and would relay our dissatisfaction). SOOO MUCH BETTER THAN BEFORE... OMG.

I appreciate that those guys ran their own video service, but it's 2017, and the Twitch's and YouTube's of the world work SO WELL!!

The amount of bandwidth they use is positively staggering. Back in 2015 they were weighing in at about a gig a second. A GIGABYTE A SECOND. That's fucking nuts. So I can totally see why their streams were ass.

My father was visiting for the week, so we geeked out and watched the stream together. Good times :D

Just got back from a 3 week journey through Japan.
Ate the best meat I've ever have in a small hole in the wall in Hiroshima. Visited Universal Studios in Osaka. Both impressed and inspired the locals in Kyoto by the amount of sake I could drink without passing out (kinda blacked out and lost a pair of shorts on the way back to the hotel though). Tokyo, I still bloody love that city.

I only know a few phrases and a bunch of words in japanese. I meant to learn alot more since the last time I was there two years ago but it didn't happen.
I took alot of pics but haven't uploaded them yet. I'll get back on that.

Shit.

So I made plans with my Dad to go to Toronto to pick up that broken SGI O2, then go see a ball game. Tickets are ordered, and we go Thursday.

Got an e-mail a couple hours ago.

Good news: The SGI is no longer broken
Bad news: Seller now wants 6x the money for it.

Shit.

Add to that getting scammed for the Amiga 600, I'm having some terrible luck lately.

If the SGi is no longer broken, I suppose the value of the product is greater, but by how much? I would be tempted to increase my offer by some amount, and put it like this: You can sell this to me now at this (presumably fair?) price, or you can wait a couple years until the next guy or gal comes along that is in the market for an SGI. By which time it probably will be not working again! And then if they still want the 6x, then to hell with their deal. Tell him too bad, you'll just be going to check out the ball game and then heading back across the country, never to return. Maybe that gives him time to think about it, and he emails you back before you're out of town agreeing to your terms.

Either way, the whole "oh hey by the way I actually fixed that computer, and now I'm gonna ask for more money by the way" sounds shady!

Well he just gave me some sob story about saving kids in India, so whatever.

It went down like this: He was selling for $600, I said ouch I live 2 hours away and have $100, he said "I have a broken one I'm too lazy to look at, I'll sell you that for $100".

Toronto is only a 2 hour drive away, but 2 hours there and back sucks. I rarely visit Toronto because of that. Had I been more quick, just going to pick it up without complaining about Toronto, I could have got it.

Ah well. Just sharing frustration.

konichiwa, arigatōgozaimashita and sunimase gets you far. You dont need much to get around. Not many can speak good english on the other hand (we met a few that could speak good english) so if you travel alone it could get... lonely.

Happy birthday to Deus Ex Mankind Divided. The had an xbox sale on the "season pass" last week for 75% off, so I grabbed that for a future date and time.

Never heard of Downwell. Looks interesting. Oh yeah, another game that is on ps but not xbox. Thanks Bill.

I believe Downwell is on Mobile and Steam too.

Yeah it sucks to be an Xbox fan.

If I remember correctly Downwell was free on PS4 this month, so yet another reason it sucks to be an Xbox fan.

Downwell is amazing. Much, much better with controller input compared to touch, for obvious reasons. I had fun playing with both input schemes though. :]

I forgot how badass the Amstrad CPC looked.

Terrible form factor (numpad in an awful spot), but it still looks really cool to me. :)
