Nice. This makes me think of 3D Dot Game Heroes, which I have yet to make a decent looking character in with the editor. I tried both Zep and my Neverfall guy. It's hard imagining flat stuff in 3D.

That Is awesome. I like that there's no shading or outlines so it's still very classic-like, yet there he is in 3D!

Speaking of 3D Dot Hero, how is the game? I realize that's one I meant to buy but haven't yet.

EDIT: Too late, now ordered. ;)

3D Hero is okay. It's nothing spectacular. To be honest, I'm actually bored with it right now. It's very straightforward Zelda (1 or 2) clone with basically zero story/plot.

Some things:
- The music is a pretty good mashup of old/newschool.
- It looks pretty
- Editor is cool
- Controls are annoying:
- You can only attack in front of you unless your sword has "spin" ability
- Unfortunately, when you spin you sometimes move by mistake because your attack has finished
- It's really easy to walk into enemies by mistake
- At some times it's frustratingly difficult/easy to die
- At other times it's ridiculously too easy/impossible to die
- There's no way to track the quests from NPCs that you discover (so you basically either write it down or forget it)

All in all it's not bad, but I don't have any pull to keep on playing it. At this point I'm playing out of hopes that something new and/or exciting will happen. Like a new fun item, perhaps. I have absolutely zero incentive or motivation to do any of the collection-rate type stuff, or go searching for secrets.

The story is straightforward so I'm not spoiling anything when I say you need to collect six orbs. I've got four of them so far. I assume some additional stuff happens besides the six orbs, otherwise it sounds like a pretty short game. I've only acquired a single sword I can upgrade so far (although I know a place where I can purchase another, except I have no idea how to get back there because the map is useless).

I've not seen anyone post about Minecraft here, but this in particular is really cool. The amount of emergent game play in this game is simply amazing:

Apparently there are level editors that you let you edit the binary map files. I have a hard time believing anyone built all that by hand, for one, it's geometrically perfect.

Indeed. That's my suspicion as well. Either way, the Minecraft program itself handles a large bundle of data nicely. I'm impressed.

Never heard of it! Cool! Java app? Even more interesting. But that's only because I have an unfounded dislike for java. :)

Got my iPhone4 today. Video camera is nice. Videos are 1280x720. Crazy! For a cell phone camera? I may no longer carry around my Canon Powershot everywhere I go now. Only when I intend to take photos. Fun.

BTW: I'm waiting for a hi-res version of smiles ;)

Just finished .hack//G.U. (all 3 volumes). I started a week ago, roughly 28 hours per volume. There's a whole bunch of secret stuff if you level your characters to max and whatnot, but instead of spending hours more, I've just been watching the extras on youtube. ;)

Sure. I was going to ask if you'd be getting one, and if I could make you my guinea pig... but I kinda got caught up playing a game this past week. :)

Well, what it'll be is "Smiles HD" (the iPad version), compatible with any modern iOS device. So yeah, there will be music.

Of course, I wont make you buy it this time (I would have given you a freebie last time, if we only had promo codes back then). ;)

Give me your new IMEI, and I should have an Ad Hoc sometime next week.

You mean UUID!

In other news, Photoshop is no longer capable of performing COPY anymore. Wow. What the hell happened?

Ya ya, whatever. Magic number. :)

EDIT: What do you mean by "no copy"? Did you make a selection? I'm on my netbook, so I can't double check what you're saying.

I don't mean new version. I mean the version I've been running forever. It has randomly decided that copying a few pixels should now take at least 30 seconds. No idea what the hell happened.

Wow. This really messes with my workflow, that's for sure. I reaaaaally don't want to have to wipe my prefs.

Impressive. That's a new feature called "Coffee Break".

*sigh* It was crustry prefs or something. Yay to putting back all my grid specs and other custom shit. Doesn't take long. Just annoying when I want to do something and it comes out different than I'm used to. [edit] Nevermind. It worked the first time after new prefs but subsequent tries = fail. Oh well.
