Seeing that huge list makes me wonder - how well backed-up is this forum's history?

Bean backs it up pretty regularly, actually. I won't be surprised if your post gets him to make a new one right now.

I had an idea for a game that would be perfect for the iphone/ipad/android market. I know I've read tons of POV's posts about cross platform game development. Can we summarize here a few best practices?

1) What libs are best for doing cross platform development? SDL? OpenGL? Some other game library like Marmalade?
1a) font resources or libraries
1b) sound resources
1c) UI libs
2) What's the most effective build tool? Make? CMake? Scons? .... ?
3) Tips for make graphics portable across resolutions; I think I read something about using SVG images then creating images for each res is easy.
4) Challenges poritng form iOS to Android (native android?), best practices?
5) How much can a moderately successful game expect to make in the Apple store? Ie the big quesiton is; is it even worth the effort (from a monetary stand point)

1) I like all 3 mentioned. Short on time so I can't add oo much to that

2) I really like Premake. It's newer, but instead of learning a weird dialect usable only for that purpose (make, cmake), but lua.

Depends? How much money are you going to put in to the game? The dev membership is $99 a year, so if you don't put real monies (other than your time) into developing the game, covering the dev fee should be doable. There are tons of articles about App/iOS store market out there that go into much more detail.

In Boston Airport, hanging out, me and my Laptop. Do de do.

PAX was good. I think the thing that made it worthwhile was that I was exhibiting (helping Strange Loop Games exhibit Vessel). Was really a nice contrast to GDC where everyone is there trying to sell you on some BS service or other crap they want you to buy in to; PAX was all people there to play games, and when they liked something, it showed. Very encouraging hearing how much people enjoyed a game, even though it wasn't my own game. I totally plan to do a PAX when my next game is ready.

I loved the animated series(Sailor Moon) back in the day but today while randomly following the related video links on youtube (starting from a clip of Numb3rs) I stumbled across this:

Never knew there was a live action series... will probably watch the whole thing later.

I never cared much for Sailor Moon, but I liked Power Rangers.

This isn't either.

Well, heck, some education is in order. Those shows are called tokusatsu and by far the best one is called Garo. There's some very good fansubs available, go watch now!

A shockingly well done ad for a TV channel.

For whatever reason, the last one was my fav. The first is obviously the better achievement, but things bugged me about it (the deadness of the claws impacting).

The music on the third vid is just lovely. I could listen to that all day.

In fact, I just might :)

I threw the second on in because I'm a sucker for Raiders jokes.

The last one is my favorite as well and that's just because of the music. The visuals aren't that great but it's hard to resist the unique charm of low resolution chip-tunes with all those perfectly clean cut saw and square waves.

The tune in the last one is, indeed, quite good!

Wow. I've seen this before, but I didn't realize he has so many other insane videos. I love this guy. These videos make it seem like he just documents his entire life. It's crazy.

Youtube's recommendation engine is a mysterious thing.

I think this is a political statement for something. *shrug*

Feels like 2010 all over again. I didn't know the guy was an internet celebrity though. His youtube channel seems to be mainly about electronics and cooking, too bad it's all in a language I can't understand.
