Aaaaand I just found out it was a Ludum Dare game. Silly me, I played the original, had deja vu moments, and it didn't even click. Bad Mike. :D

Oh. Oh yes. Please, somebody get me a towel.

Not a big fan of the music, though. Or the light model.

Yah, Giant monsters and a random mech... sure! I herd you were a fan of some game called Xenoblade. :)

I need to take my copy out of cellophane and play some day. :D

Xenoblade doctrine is hereby invoked.

Great, now we're going to need another thread to discuss other games ;_;

Looking at that trailer, I have to wonder what's going on with the color control. It's like there is a layer of bleach and tar over everything. Do they just not understand the newer lighting model they're working with (this is their first HD game on new hardware), or is it an intentional attempt to pander to the dumb-ass "hard core" crowd who see desaturation as an indicator of "maturity" in a game? By that definition, Space Invaders is the most hard core game ever :)

Now that I think about it, I do remember someone at Monolithsoft saying they wanted to morph into a Japanese version of Bethesda, and we know how asstastic their color control is. There are mods to put color back in Skyrim, after all. This is all very depressing to me.

The mech looks decent, but the characters and monsters look generic as hell in their texturing. I mean, really goddamn generic. Black and gray everywhere :(

Or you could keep it sealed and sell it to some guy for $500 ten years from now. Heh.

Colors in all forms of media have become horrible. Personally I think that the first season of Game of Thrones is the worst offender and one of the ugliest TV shows ever made. Luckily, season 2 is a lot better.

Care to show more examples of this phenomenon in a different thread alongside with good examples of colors in media?

And since the Xenoblade Doctrine is in effect: (you thought I was joking, right?)

So I'm pretty excited about SimCity 5, which is odd, since I never played any of the older ones, except for two brief stints in 3 and 4.

I can't remember if I ever posted this. It's a parody ad for 3D Dot Game Heroes.

Natural Sword Enhancement, indeed.

I like the font they use. Nice soft borders on their little text overlays. It's pleasant. I might have to head to the blacksmith.

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon. It's so... gloriously 80's! I really hope they capture the essence of 80's cyberpunk.

One might wonder what this has to do with Far Cry 3. Sure, they'll sell a ton more just by using the name I understand that, but at least skip the 3?

The actual trailer for Blood Dragon is finally out. :)

I am amused. :)

New game from the folks that made Bastion (Bastion narrator is back as a character this time).

Gamplay footage starts at about 1 minute mark. Has a bit of a Ghost in the Shell vibe.

Sub Rosa. Apparently it's a game about riding around with friends doing deals and shooting people up like mad. I... want to play this :)

Oh yeah, don't miss the very end of the vid.

That's pretty cool. I follow Mr Cryptic Sea on his twitter, so I've seen those character designs before, but I had no idea he had such an interesting game behind them.

I tried to run the demo of that on my linux, but it didn't run. I am probably missing some sort of dependency, but didn't get any clear idea of which (if any) that would be. It would be neat to get a GDR "gang" together and roll like homies on some lazy day.

Until recently, I was not aware this was inspired by the old Dungeons & Dragons arcade games. I'm much more interested now.

Oh neat! I also just assumed it was a Princess Crown sequel, which was pretty, but not a 4 player fun romp (I don't think).

Maybe I'm just reading the wrong websites, but all I've really heard were people complaining about the size of one woman's boobs. Gawd, that seems to be all I hear about anymore. I'm glad that this Elf character doesn't have outrageous boobs, because it makes me think people are making a stink about the boob thing because they can.
