At first I thought "Hey, nice star field." And then I realized: "Oh, it's dust."

Haha, ya dust and scratches (this machine is ancient). I've thought the same thing. And now I know a starfield would look good. :D

Adding some Hit and Hurtboxes, because it's important to be able to punch chickens in the face.

I've always loved this graphical style; Pixelated graphics, but not actually constrained to a grid. Terraria does the same thing in some places, and it always adds a neat touch

Speech balloon: "This has no right to make me this happy, but it does!"

Poor mister butterstick is in over his head. One day he'll punch one of the Zelda chickens :(

So I'm flying to San Francisco on Sunday morning for GDC. On a whim I was reading e-mail, and saw this in NVidia's pre-GDC newsletter:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/gdc2014-contest.html

Quote:
Be one of the first 50 developers to show us your unpublished Android game controlled from a gamepad (such as a Nyko Playpad Pro or MOGA PRO) and we'll hook you up with an NVIDIA SHIELD, plus tickets to one of the coolest parties at-GDC. - See more at: http://www.nvidia.com/object/gdc2014-contest.html#sthash.fVDd35bJ.dpuf

Basically, show them your unfinished controller-based Android game and get a free NVidia Shield. Okay!

So I spent the past few hours getting my Android build working again.

:)

Funny thing, my Nyko Playpad I got free last GDC. :D

Been a rough couple weeks since GDC (rough as in very little work done). Between a nasty cold, Diablo 3, Ludum Dare work, and taxes (ugh). Ah well, next (this) week things will get moving again.

At GDC I scored an NVidia Shield from NVidia. I reeeeally like the device. I like the device so much, that it's become one of my regular development/test devices... even though I'm actually targeting a PC release for the game first.

Another thing I just remembered today: Because it's NVidia, I can use NVidia debug tools. I seriously love NVidia's PerfHUD ES, but until recently my only noteworthy NVidia device was the original Nexus 7 (and the Ouya, but f*** the Ouya). Here's a short vid of PerfHUD ES in action.

Yes it's a GPU profiler, but one awesome new features I just noticed now is that you can scrub forward and backward through all the draw calls. Freaking great.
