Kind of crazy it's fall. Weather still feels like summertime here. I'm not complaining, though. ;]

Urg. Humidity was off the chart this evening :(

Earlier this week temperatures took a nose-dive, but it didn't last long. Here's hoping us northern hemisphere folks get a decent winter this year!

It was so cold outside I had to wear pants...

... as opposed to shorts.

I'm supposed to remind you not to wear shorts. Remember?

:)

Here's a fun story. The history of Starcraft's development.

http://www.codeofhonor.com/blog/starcraft-orcs-in-space-go-down-in-flames

And spoilers:

Blizzard was Duped by Ion Storm. Ion Storm showed off a game at E3 (?) that made the original Starcraft look like crap. Feeling inferior, they started over and crunched like maniacs for 14 months, only to discover several years later the Ion Storm game they saw was actually a fake. Wow.

These Starcraft articles are great reads. It'd be so interesting to see some kind of documentary, where you'd see meetings that went on, things like that, during the development process. Too bad! :)

Weekend! (and in other positive news, I'll be working 6h instead of 8h days, starting Oct. 1st, we'll see how that'll work out... :) )

It has been a quiet and slow weekend. Not much happened. I've watched the entire 14 episodes of Firefly split into two sessions and the Serenity movie (the movie sucked but the series was good in a Cowboy Bebop,Elite II,Privateer fashion of good).

8h days here, with a 2 hour commute. Add waking up and eating, that leaves me with maybe 3 or 4 hours each day for activities:

- 2 days of sports practice (2 hour sessions)
- 1 day of band practice (2 hour session)
- 1 day of DJing
- 1 day of sports (playing weekly game, trying to get into national series)

Add the girlfriend to that and I'd say my schedule is pretty tight right now :p. No time for game dev I'm afraid.

I already have a rough idea for the next (very small in scope) game I want to make but I'm still feeling too burned out for anything. 6h days should help to reduce that feeling.

I worked 10 hours days for many years. About two years ago I dropped to 8 hours, which didn't cost me anything since I draw a salary ^_^ That made for a huge boost in my free time. I get extra sleep, too, which helps me feel decent throughout the week. Life's too short to work yourself to death!

The daily commute is ~20 minutes one way. Not too shabby. So each evening I have from ~5:30 -> midnight to do whatever I want... and often things I don't want (cooking, laundry, shopping, maintenance, etc).

I'm lucky to still be a student and don't work (currently). I worked part-time (~5 hours/day) for four years besides studying though. And I'm proud to still have gotten some stuff done! Now comes my first semester where I'm a student only... let's see what happens! :-)

I'm hoping to find some free time to take on a small project, we'll see. I have an idea in mind, it just needs execution time (which, as I said, is sorely lacking)

I just did that for months, finally crawled out of it. I prefer being swamped and not feeling like that ever again.

Long story short, I pulled out of that depression loop by working on crazy stuff as much as possible. Seems to be working.

I wish I could break out of it like that. And the stress symptoms. And my bloody sleeping disorder. I understand that it all hangs together but I dont know what have triggered it.

I just like sleep. It's not a disorder. I just really like being immobile on a flat surface. :)

The sleep itself is rather boring but the dreaming makes it worthwhile.
