The confessional is open for business.

I shall open the festivities with a simple admission:

I have never played a Pokemon game, seen one being played, or even watched footage of one being played (that I'm aware of). I just never got around to it.

For someone that makes video games, I barely play them at all anymore.

That's not so bad. As penance, The Lord (in his Pixelated grace we bask) requires you to chant "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this," thirty-seven times, and play Super Mario Bros for at least half an hour.

NEXT.

Having cultivated so many ideas for games, I've never really committed to any of them apart from that puzzle game I made and the one I'm working on now. If anyone asks, I'm going over the some non-mechanical ideas (setting, lore, etc.)

I must confess to this as well.

I probably play games a little more often than what it sounds like you're saying you do (try parsing that sentence...), but not by much. And when I do, it's usually older games that I've already played a million times. Right now I'm working my way through Doom. And not in a fancy-ass OpenGL source port with special lighting and mouselook and crosshairs and jumping. Vanilla, baby. Pixels the size of hams.

Now for my confession: I've never played any Zelda game newer than Link to the Past. Zelda II is my favorite by light years, and I'm not a fan of the original Legend of Zelda. I find it nigh unplayable.

That's not too scary. The fountain that is human creativity ever flow'eth, but we can only capture but a sip at a time. The Lord (hallowed be his shaders) demands that you bake chocolate chip cookies in the shape of Yoshi.

My son, this is a grievous offense unto Our Lord (in his name we Segfault). Though the waters are deep, and wide the stream, we must ford to reach newer shores. In penance, you shall open the nearest window and shout "You spoony bard!" once an hour for three hours.

Ramen.

I only played a few levels in Super Mario Galaxy 2.

I play Angry Birds on occasion (usually while I'm waiting for something). Oddly, I want to play more games. I just don't want to give up the time to do so. I get far more enjoyment from developing.

Trying to think of some other confession but I've coming up with nothin..

My only video game sin right now is that I haven't been actively working on any of my games since Oct 2011. The bigger sin to it is, in theory, I could put in at least 10h per week for developing but I'm wasting all the time playing games, mainly Diablo III which isn't even fun anymore, it's just an endless grindfest and an unhealthy obsession to reach Paragon level 100 and the hope to find better equipment around the next corner.

Oh good, Dennis is making up for all the not-gaming I'm doing!

I must confess. My Wii (like so many) has been collecting dust for the past couple years. Originally because my projector died. But then, I've got this 24" LCD in front of me I could be using. hmmm I think I'll hook the old girl up.

I actually have a lot of games I want to play, but most of them are time-sinks, requiring a few days commitment (because I'll want to play them for a while). So for whatever reason, I end up NOT playing ... because I don't want to be entertained?!?

Rather, it's more I can ration my time better with TV shows. I know they end after 20-40 minutes, and less if an internet TV show. Video games, "real ones" require me to commit 2-4 hours to start, and I seem to think I'll use my time better by not playing.

WTF.

Quitters never win, and that's a sin! While we are assailed by endless buffets of mediocre games, true gaming gems, much like the wisdom garnered from the Great Book, sets us free. We should pull them to us, as the glorious bounties of the Lord (in whose crepuscular rays we eternally bask) are ours' to enjoy. For your penance, seek ye your copy of Super Mario Galaxy 2, and play it to completion, shouting "WEEGEE!" each time Luigi appears on-screen. Deus Ex is also an acceptable substitute.

This is a minor sin, indeed. Sacrifice is the cornerstone of virtue, and a worthy foundation for a man who worships at the altar of vertex transformations. We should not lose sight of what inspires us, such that we fall prey to the temptations of excess work. Know thee a moment of sloth, and dust off that Wii. For thine transgressions against the Lord (our cups runneth over, his buffers never so), you must play any of the first three Metal Slug games to completion while wearing a bra on your head. If you don't have one, you can borrow mine.

The sins of the flesh hold endless temptation and fascination for humanity. Idle hands may be the devil's playground, but sitting around playing Diablo III leads not to salvation -- only carpal tunnel syndrome. For thy sins against the Great and Mighty Lord of Gaming (bessed by thy name, even though we still can't figure out how to pronounce it), penance shall be no less than thirty situps (over a span of one month. We're not crazy about physical exertion) and declaring your eternal love for Suda 51, High Priest of the Perverse Pixel, the next time you shower.

I haven't seriously played a game in years. And when i recently hooked up my SNES to play with my gf, I failed miserably at Super Mario 1 and 3. And also 2, but that I'm ok with!

I couldn't get far at all in Baldur's Gate without a stupid amount of cheating.

Yea my child, time saps our old-skool chops, and the wages of sin weigh heavy on our gamepads. Seek ye the wisdom of the ancient arts, and reconstitute your skills from the ground up. In penance for your transgrassions, Our Lord (in his Save Point we trust) demands you take a stack of colorful Post-it notes and construct a video game sprite on your bedroom ceiling.

Hey a new sin. This guy made me smile. If you can watch the whole thing, you'll be rewarded.

So much passion. :)

Also HOLY CRAP! I had no idea Mountain Dew came in a can that large.

Imagine if the ps3 had the always-online requirement when their psn went dark for a month a while back. :!

I played through a large portion of Ocarina of Time using a strategy guide the first time I played it...

I'm getting bored with my projects halfway through and let them wither away and die.

I never felt like Mario 64 was a great game. Everything Nintendo did in that game Rare did twice as good in theirs. Havent hardly touched a 3d mario since.

I am covertly planning to invite BadMrBox to play some sort of cooperative game so that I might have the chance to inflict great vengeance upon him.

This is outrages! This "Lord" is false I say!

From the Holy scripts of BASIC:
Code:

If Game = "Baldurs Gate" And GameType = RPG Then
    Print "Best RPG ever!"
Else
Print "Go play Baldurs Gate. For greater justice!"
End If

I have a sin to confess though: I like buying games, but I don't play them..

My gaming sins are detailed in a very convenient format:
http://www.lambentstew.com/webblog/miniproject/steamanalysis/steam_time/BinoAl

Possibly the biggest of which: I have 46 games in steam that I have never even played.

Only 46?

I have almost 150. ;)

But of course I keep buying Humble Bundles w/o even looking at what they have in them.

Heh yep, that's most of my problem. I actually had around 60-70 unplayed games, but I quit my job a while back and gave a good number of them a decent try since then
