Been on "vacation" for 2.5 years. Every day is the same. Mind would need a reset or something. Joined a local drawing/painting group three weeks ago though, so once a week now, I meet other people for a couple of hours and we draw and paint together which is already an improvement over never leaving the cave for anything.

My adventure as entrepreneur has finished at the moment. Actually it was my fault, due to personal (emotional and psychological) issues, but also because we had different goals. I hope we can still be friends.

So, I'm alone, with a big personal baggage I should fix and heal, with no job and no money. A big opportunity, isn't it?

Hm without knowing your background... in a world where "survival" (more defined as (financial) "well being" and feeling as part of a community than actual raw survival) seems increasingly difficult, I would not be so quick anymore to blame all of it on personal issues when things go "wrong" somehow.

Anyway, I don't know shit either and I don't have any answers. Just keep breathing and opportunities might reveal themselves or they might not but keep breathing.

I know. Actually it was partially my fault, but I had really hard psychological and affective issues lately with a big feedback looping on everything (job -> stress -> personal life -> job -> stress -> personal life -> job ...). It was unsupportable.

Right now I'm much better. I'm not sure I'll continue with my plan. May be I'll look for a more standard job, or even be radical and change to something different...

Good luck!

I personally am all about "standard job". You need to get lucky and have a non stressful one though. :]

Ha, the blindfolded SotN was wild. Hilarious that the controller broke during the blind run.

Tetris Grand Master is finally back this Thursday. That's going to be nuts. Maybe a look at the new game? :D

I was thinking of writing a simple 6502 emulator. Simple, as in doesn't bother respecting cycle times. Should be pretty easy to lay out the instruction set, stack, etc. I've been on vacation a long time and haven't done much coding at all.

I approve. I regret not finishing my Z80 one, way back when I was doing GameBoy.

Actually I want to make a couple recommendations for things to watch.

* * *

First is this YouTube show "How Ones". It's an interview show where the host and guest eat progressively hotter hot sauce doused chicken wings.

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAzrgbu8gEMIIK3r4Se1dOZWSZzUSadfZ

He tends to interview comedians, rappers (?), and the occasional athlete. Admittedly I really only care for the comedians, but it's a fun show, watching people suffer to answer questions. Key & Peele and TJ Miller are good guests.

* * *

Next is Jerry Seinfeld's Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee.

http://comediansincarsgettingcoffee.com/

That ones a bit more popular, so maybe it isn't news, but I really like it. Jerry picks up his guest in an interesting (or bizarre) car, and they have a casual chat. Guests are mostly comedians (1 US president).

Does anyone want a sequel to Trainspotting? Dunno, but I'll be watching it regardless.

Me too. I was kinda bummed about not going this year, but that was entirely a situation of my own creation.

I have a lot of youtube footage to catch up on :)

So far I have watched the Demo, Real Wild and Oldschool entries. Think I'll have to watch them again some other time(in a less negative mood) as nothing really blew me away as innovative or great. Some stuff was neat but there was never a moment where I thought that I was looking at something I had not already seen x times before, so I got bored a bit and even skipped ahead during some entries.

Most of the time my mind was on someones comment on last years demos which basically said that we have been seeing the same old boring "autism amplifiers" for >30 years now. I am inclined to agree even though it's a pretty destructive comment which might discourage people from making demos.

Then again... all this could just be poor mood and absence of coders mind-state speaking, so I'll watch them again when I feel more "glorious demos, programming rocks!" again. They are bound to be a thousand times better when approached with that mindset.

Random musings: how the hell did Tails repair the Tornado quickly enough to rescue Sonic from the Death Egg?

Working from home is rather strange. After two decades of going in to some sort of an office, programming at my comfy desk feels....... almost sinful.

:D

It doesn't get easier. ;)

If you have "work only" space, like a home office, it does help though. Over time hardwiring the idea of "work" when you enter it.

Found my first gray hair today. Today also happens to be Star Trek's 50th anniversary, which leads me to believe that this hair is actually a result of me passing through some distorted bubble of spacetime, probably created as an unintended side effect of a photon torpedo blast.

But, if that's not the case and I am officially An Old Man(tm) now, I need to get with the program. Anybody know where I can get a discount on a lawn, so I can kick kids off of it? Failing that, I just need somebody to occasionally remind me of things that piss me off so I can complain that the world is different from when I was young. Preferably something to do with "millennials."*

At any rate, I've been growing my hair out for the past two years and I don't plan to stop, so eventually I'm going to look like a wizard. Or late-career Jerry Goldsmith. I'm okay with either option.

*I actually am a millennial, but complaining about them seems to be the thing to do, so... grumble grumble ;)

Don't worry, AdmiralTofu: Gray is the new black... or something. Childs will call you "sir" or "mister" now. I remember when it happens to me. I was in shock for a whole month.
