Ah... much, much better contrast between the floor and walls. I like where you're taking the art direction.

Omg, I might like the panicking villagers more than the rats in the original. Now... if you only could torch them all :P.

Testing room compositions in the Crypt

After the comps are worked out, I'll do a mockup and cut out tiles. Here's an example from the town.

Why would I make screaming panicking villagers if I wasn't planning on setting them on fire? XD

Finished sketching up the design for the Crypt - sans the puzzle rooms, those take lots more iteration.

Updated in-game shot with color. Still needs some work in the shadowy areas and the character isn't color matched to the zone, but a good start.

FYI, the blue background on this site makes it looks very mustardy. It's a bit more even toned if you look at it at the direct link: https://imgur.com/bLwDg4M

@PoV: Thanks!

@Niunio: I would say no, because you'd have to choose to have the map open while you play. :) A lot of the description of what happens in the rooms is not shown.

Screenshot Saturday - I just finished mocking up / planning all mechanics for all bosses and sub bosses for each zone. Here are a couple mockups for the sub-boss fights for the Crow Fury and the Serpent Fury in the Crypt.
