I can't tell if this adaptation is going to be any good.

Death Note is probably my favorite Anime, but I'm not silly enough to think it should be faithfully adapted. I'm not yet sold on the actor playing Light, but to be fair there's just not enough to go on.

Like IMO the thing that MADE the Anime for me was how well the actors portrayed the characters in the English dub. Light's confidence, his facade, his madness, so brilliantly done. IMO it's one of the two greatest dubs I've ever seen (the 2nd being Persona 4, also brilliantly done, and just as cerebral).

I should probably expect nobody will ever match how well the Anime did it, and just accept it's a movie with a similar story.

Speaking of Anime adaptations, here's 4 minutes of Ghost in the Shell.

I'm really not sold on her suit. The color choice, given the lighting, makes her look naked... which would be fine given the source material, but it's not even good naked. It comes off as something out of the uncanny valley.

Everything outside the suit looks pretty cool IMO. First thing since the Matrix that has had a good Matrix vibe, but also very Blade Runner'y, with music right out of Tron.

Just a random YouTube show I want to share. They *just* announced the new season, which is what inspired me to say something.

The show is basically a competitive scavenger hunt about building the best gaming PC for very little budget. As someone that's built PC's several times over the years (as a job, and for my own use) I find it quite entertaining.

The embedded video above is a playlist containing 4 seasons of the show.

Anime is meant to be seen with japanese voices and subtitles. English dubs are the cringe O_O;.
I love the look of the city in GitS, it inspires me. Might be the thing that actually makes me working on my cyberpunk game that i've been thinking about for ages. Not too sure about Scar-Jo. She's not the best actress in the world but I dont think Major is too hard of a role to play. Besides, we get to see her in a skintight rubbersuit. I think that alone is going to sell some tickets.

That scene looks super CGI. It is uncanny valley that I simply cannot unsee. Might as well be a floating head. Totally ruins it for me. :]

I doubt they put her in a rubbersuit if they end up cgi the whole thing.

Happy April Fools.

If you have Netflix, there's a show called "Netflix Live", that features Will Arnett commentating a bunch a random crap. It's pretty funny.

I don't know about everyone else, but I am *so* happy April Fools fell on a weekend this year. I was able to completely avoid the entire internet being stupid for the better part of a day.

Literally did not see a single joke. :]

{Sick burn about having no sense of humor goes here}

Placeholders for jokes aside, I still don't know why April Fools bugs people so much. Sure, most people suck at crafting jokes. My brother taught my nieces about April Fools by having them lie about losing a tooth. When surrounded by bad attempts at humour, yeah, I can see the hate. But I've seen the good too! Incompetence shouldn't ruin the one day we celebrate fun!

IMO, a good April Fools prank needs to be outrageous, yet something about it needs to make it believable. Unless you're left with a feeling of genuine disbelief that you believed something, that's an April Fools fail. There's nothing outrageous or unbelievable about my nieces loosing a tooth. I actually gave my brother shit for the poor joke. You can do better. One should strive for a higher standard in April foolery.

The fun stuff is nice too, like Google making Google Maps in to Dragon Quest or Pacman, or Adult Swim secretly releasing the 1st episode of Rick and Morty Season 3 (and live streaming it on loop so folks can watch it when they hear about it). That was an awesome surprise. Even the Netflix thing was a hoot. To have an excuse to do something fun and out-of-the-ordinary is awesome.

Yes people suck at humour, but it saddens me to hear that a day that's literally about fun is despised by people. Thanks Obama.

Ok, I can sort of understand Sega and their stand on streaming Persona 5 but Puyo Puyo Tetris. That's pretty pathetic really.

They're one of the final hold-outs. Even Nintendo has accepted streaming, but Nintendo Japan hasn't made it easy.

I think this is necessary, in that Sega Japan needs to receive all kinds of outrage and blowback to begin to understand their thought process is archaic.

EDIT: Actually after further reading the article, it's Japan only. Statement from Sega America said "go ahead and stream, but hey, try to avoid spoilers m'kay".

And actually, Sega's policy regarding Persona 5 isn't that unreasonable. You *CAN* stream, but they give you an in-game cut-off date because "OMFG SPOILERS". The rest of the words are them saying "hey, don't be a dick and make video of just cutscenes... actually, if you be a dick we will be one too".

These are policies that probably should get established, especially for highly anticipated story games. It would be nice to eventually watch a video of alternative endings, but in the beginning it's fair to want to avoid it.

Yeah, if you basically give up the rights to your youtube channel to them, give them most of the ad revenue and never ever say anything negative about the company or you're off their whitelist.

When it comes to spoilers... who in the world honestly watches a stream and not expecting spoilers?

After years of feverish fan demand, PC gamers can now finally play Bayonetta. Arriving on Steam today with 4K support and advanced graphics options, Sega's critically acclaimed action classic now looks better than ever before.

I wonder if they're going to have the same restriction on spoielers. >;)

I'm essentially staying off certain areas of the net until I'm done with P5.

Aww hell. And like that, Nintendo discontinues the NES Classic (Mini).

I was waiting for there to be a surplus, so I could get one cheap. Alas, it looks like I wont even be able to get one for full price. Yikes.

I thought the idea was cool, but it's also not too complicated to just make a better one from a Raspberry Pi. It's the sort of thing I would have loved as a gift or something, and it's very cool, both in its function and just the fact that it exists, but I couldn't justify the price.

Maybe there's hitting the pause button on production so that they can release it again down the line if they need a financial pick-me-up. Seems like they're doing pretty well with the Switch for now.

I guess they are planning on releasing the titles that are on the nes mini on the Switch virtual console for a little bigger pricetag.
