E3 is next week. Here's a couple schedules for the live streams.

I know that EA has their stuff on saturday but isn't the lineup weaker than usual or am I dreaming of times gone by?

I might not have picked the best schedule images. These are what a quick google search popped up.

EDIT: Well I did a bit more searching, and here's another listing.

https://www.polygon.com/e3/2017/6/8/15758330/e3-2017-live-stream-schedule-twitch-youtube-nintendo

Basically says to expect added coverage from:

- Twitter (IGN)
- YouTube Gaming
- Twitch
- E3 (Geoff Keighley)
- Nintendo Treeshouse
- Warner Bros

No doubt other companies will be doing dedicated streams (Capcom?).

That said, EA is really the only press conference that was missed above. So yeah, it's a bit lighter than before.

Hm, EA didn't have too much interesting to show. I Think Fares co-op game was the most interesting. The Need for Speed game looked like garbage, not graphically but the bloody Fast & the Furious cheesy story with D-actors. I miss the days when the focus was to race from point a to b.
Battlefront 2 looks graphically impressive but man... I feel pretty done with Star Wars in general. Anthem looks nice though.

XBox showed some interesting games. The new Metro game looks pretty damn sweet. This is how a postapocalyptic game should look like Bethesda. The cuphead game still looks awesome and it finally have a release date.
Anthem looked really nice as said. Looks like you're basically Iron Man in some sort of postapocalyptic/alien world and you're punching the crap out of the local wildlife. Frostbyte is really an awesome engine, if you know what you're doing that is*glares at Mass Effect Andromeda*.

I wonder what Bethesda will show. I'd guess there will be a new Wolfenstein but other than that i have no idea what they have.

EA did EA. I think the last EA game I cared about was Spore, but that was a long time ago. I also briefly worked on some Battlefield games, and I got my "fix" for Multiplayer FPS games a long time ago.

Microsoft probably did as well as they could. They car thing at the beginning of the presentation was cringe-as-F. If I cared about FPS, I might have been impressed by the new Metro, Anthem, that Dwarf voxel mining game, and the Pirate Ship game. I dunno, I got soured having worked in the genre, and by Halo 2's ending, and with the exception of Splatoon I just haven't cared enough to play one since.

Dragonball FighterZ is an Arcsys fighter (Guilty Gear/Blaz Blue). I've been meaning to try and get in to their fighters, but like Skullgirls I could care less about the characters (other than admitting they look cool). DBZ, yeah okay, I'm a fan. I get that. I'll give it a try.

Anyway, I grabbed a selection of trailers (above) from oddball games that stood out. I doubt I'll play any of them, but I gotta admit each had something going for them.

Anthem is basically Bioware trying to go with the Destiny formula. And the Destiny formula is shite because it's a repetitive gear-slog, but it is what it is, to use the parlance of our times. Thing is, Anthem looks significantly more interesting than Destiny ever did. And it certainly makes it look outdated. I was pretty onboard until that one player got a "legendary" weapon drop.

Fuuuuuuuuck that nonsense. Gear slog it is, then.

New hardware reveal was pretty meh. Blah blah blah, muh 4K muh 60 fps. As usual the Xboner has approximately zero Japanese presence, with a few odd outliers. Deep Rock Galactic was the only thing on the Xbox conference that piqued my interest. Crackdown 3 looked.... bad. The Last Night brought back some Flashback memories, so that's good.

Battlefront 2 looks promising, but it being Dice and EA they will fuck it up in some fundamental manner. I'll bite if they ditch the pay-2-win bullshit; otherwise no-go.

New Ass Creed looks sorta promising, but also sorta more of the same.

Oh yeah, I forgot The Last Night. It looked interesting but I need to see gameplay.

Bethesda's conference was... short and sour.
Doom and Fallout 4 VR stuff. Meh.
Elder Scrolls Online expansion. Not my cup of tea.
Dishonored 2 expansion. Hm.. Is that game in working order on pc now? Might pick it up.
Wolfenstein. Looks cool but does every hero have to run around in an power armor? Starting to blur the line between Wolfenstein, Doom and Fallout here guys.
Creation Club. Wtf Bethesda. Didn't we walk this path a year or so ago? Didn't you learn anything?

I saw this shared elsewhere, it's from a Bethesda blog post a couple years ago

"we hear you" :)

gear slog

I've liked some gear slog games, as long as the story, etc. along the way is good. Some companies are better than others about this. For me it's trending in the wrong direction though -- older games like Diablos and Borderlands I have enjoyed, while more recent games like The Division, Destiny have underwhelmed me. Maybe it's personal genre fatigue... or maybe it's gamemakers looking at something that worked well as one component among many of a game, and wringing it dry in newer games.

Apparently if you stay up late enough on E3 Sunday, E3 coverage becomes the weirdest wrestling-like show you've ever seen.

Like a train wreck, I just couldn't look away.

I like it. Very much like Marvel vs Capcom.

The game with the fox looks good. Also, burger bear got @$@#ed over. Blatant disqualification.

Well Sony and Nintendo haven't happened yet. ;)

That and I'm ignoring most AAA stuff, 'cause I don't care. ;)

I've waited for 15 years for more Beyond good & evil and when we finally get it it's a prequel without Jade. Online playground. Exactly what no-one wanted.
Seriously... Michel Ancel you stupid piece of #%%.
I'm done with Ubisoft. I'm broken, completely broken and it was a damn frenchie that did me in.

Don't give up yet, because it looks like you can DRIVE TRACTORS in Far Cry 5

Also 1:57 is very interesting, incredible AI on that thing.

Very obscure thing. A fighting game with the Umihara Kawase girl (i.e. she uses a fishing pole) and Curly Brace from Cave Story.

...

... The trailer is a bit much (not entirely out of character actually), but hey, it's Undertale. A *REAL* version of the game, no strange joystick-to-key capture tools required.
