Man ... I could understand someone such as Bean or Sirocco putting a stop to the Winter off-topic thread. They don't know any better. But you're in Canada man! You know it's still winter! You're just in denial, clearly. Well, I noticed the groundhog didn't see his shadow, so maybe it's okay after all. :)

Yep, it sure isn't spring yet here.

In random other news, I've installed Vista on my main desktop, since I got it for free from some magical Microsoft agreement with my school's CS department. It seems nice so far - definitely plenty of eye candy, if that's what you're into - and I haven't really had any huge problems yet. I've only tried a couple of games; CS:S works fine, and GTA:SA works, although it locks up now and then when alt-tabbing or using the in-game menu. Anybody else crazy enough to be an early adopter? Any horror stories of stuff that doesn't work?

(I also had to shed a tear when I learned that Vista no longer allows any kind of fullscreen DOS programs. I guess this means DOSBox will soon become my new best friend.)

Silly PoV: Spring does not officially start until the Vernal Equinox at the end of March. (Hurray Western-centric thinking!)

That said, I think it was, like, 80 in parts of Southern California, today. God I hate the Inland Empire.

In PoVLand, Spring starts when Mike gets annoyed by the snow, and wants the real spring to start. :D

Everyone repeat after me. There is no snow outside. There is no snow outside.

Vista, I'm in no rush. If I need it, I'll get it. I upgraded my PC last xmas, so I should be good until at least the end of this year. Come on 8 cores. :D

Though funny enough, I could very well be picking up a Mac Pro when upgrade time rolls around, and be dual booting Vista. I've grown tired of the PC arms race, and stupid ASUS motherboard incompatibilities.

I've heard that Vista doesn't run so well under BootCamp in the Mac world. I'm not sure if it's anything dealbreaking, but I recall seeing an article about it. Do some research if you're planning on (or need to be able to) use Vista eventually on a Mac.

To resurrect a conversation long dead, I finally watched Versus today; that movie has to be the second greatest movie with zombies in I have ever seen! I think it is the first film I have watched with zombies firing guns. Very swank movie.

Definitely one of, if not The best zombie movie ever. It's got everything! Guns, explosions, violence, comedy, crazy situations.. all it needs is some nude girls and it'd be like the best movie ever made! ;)

It's still very cold here, Versus was a pretty nifty zombie movie, and "Fuck Vista".

Busy. Talk later.

I've been waiting for more games to come out for 360. I want to buy the system but only if there's some damn games for it.

After watching this video of Lost Odyssey I'm thinking I'll require the system when this releases (holiday season?).

I guess the creator or some such of Final Fantasy is behind it. Supposably it's similar to FF7 in terms of gameplay. I love the atmosphere of it. In this scene it really seems like your in the middle of an epic battle. And the seamless transition between cutscenes and gameplay is sweet.

That Lost Odyssey trailer looks really, really sweet. It, unfortunately, doesn't say much for the real actual gameplay, but it was awesome nontheless. Best part, hands down, was the guys chanting and performing resurrection.

Does "by the FF creator" mean turn-based battles? :(

The battle system was horrible. Not even the current breed of Final Fantasy's have that slow of a system. It does not really mesh too well with the epic feel of the huge battle going on elsewhere. The only thing I felt was mildly impressive was the Lave-from-Heaven towards the end, but that felt more like a movie rather than something you could do in the game.

I read there's two other gameplay elements that aren't in yet. Also, 8 or 10 characters in your party. And half of them are immortals or some such. The full details are not out but there'll be more to the battles then what were seeing.

In case you missed the Superbowl, again, it's always great for some entertaining commercials.

GPS POWER! -
Beer and an Axe -
Pen Darts -
Bank Robbery -

And many more. I personally don't care much for football, but I was entertained.

Oh gosh, GPS Power. That was ridiculous! :P

Colts winning was definitely the best part though. :)

In an era where you don't see a great number of quality movies released, it's good to know we can still?rel=0" frameborder=0 webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen> count on Arnold.

"Web 2.0" and improved productivity? Unpossible!

http://twitter.com

If you've ever used an IM client, and goofed off by updating your name with little status updates, this is a service for you. The idea here is like micro blog posts. No structure or anything, just quick micro updates. Such as "going to watch TV", "fixed the bug with the camera code", whatever vague micro details you decide to share. The micro posts can be followed in RSS, be viewed with friends, or be embedded in a website in a little flash viewer, much like a youtube video or xbox 360 gamercard.

It strikes me as a fascinatingly simple and potentially useful web tool. It might even encourage you to get stuff done, even little things, so you can post a micro blog post to keep the feed going. A blog without the effort. And you can be as brief and as vague as you want. :D
