I managed to get my BA eventually, though I did drop out of high school. Memories :)

I did some in college. VxWorks, custom multi-array stuff to do signal processing (military). It's been a long time since then, though.

Not me, I'm so forgetful these days that I forget to get older. Or maybe that's a sign of getting older.

Beats me; as long as those kids stay off my lawn I'm fine.

A lot.

Off the top of my head, Magick82 and PoV have new finished projects, as does IMakeGames, Bean has a demo for Diversion, our three artists have been producing cool sketches and paintings, and MikeDoty has been making a sweet-ass Lode Runner spinoff with a RPG slant. Sonrisu has something platform-ish in the works, and Skywise has expressed interest in restarting an old Gauntlet/Demon Stalkers type project. I started working on a 4 player co-op shooter.

I'm sure I've forgotten some important things -- apologies to anyone/anything I missed.

The rest of us have been bitching and moaning about games, as usual.

How many people here are full time indie devs now, i.e. no "day job"? I have just recently joined the ranks. Scary as shit, but super awesome to be able to say.

Regrettably there might be a bit of a full-time-indie recession right now, due to the super-very-drastic grown in indies the past few years. There's waaaaay way too much competition. I'm actually doing a "quick" contract gig to pay my bills at the moment. Spending my summer in Calgary.

But ya, I enjoy the freedom too much.

Mad crunch expected for when I get back home.

So, here I am.

My actual name is Guillermo, not Ņuņo, but I created that nick a lot of time ago and now I should bear with it.

I started to make stuff with MSX-BASIC, then GW-BASIC, then QuickBASIC, then C, then C++, then Object Pascal and finally PHP+JavaScript. With that experience I must say that I really hate C++, PHP and JavaScript but I really love Object Pascal and QuickBasic.

I'm the man behind Allegro.pas, the library that allows you to use the wonderful Allegro Game Library in Pascal and Object Pascal (yay!), and one of the only two people who uses it (the other one is RPGHacker, but not sure if he still uses it). Standard plain C is a nice language too, but I use it only to build tools (like the Best Encrypter Ever, may be I'll release it some day).

I have very few things done, most of them are demos and tests with Allegro.pas so I have not much to show here right now. My current job involves game making but don't worry, I'll not spam with it.

Welcome!

My only experience with Pascal was a few Delphi projects I did in 1997. It was syntactically similar to C so I found the transition easy. Pascal didn't get much traction in the indie scene, which is a shame because it forces you to work a little harder to shoot yourself in the foot than C :)

Okay, just don't be afraid to show us what you're up to.

Hello, hello. :)

I'm Ryan and I found this place through the metroidvania tumblr page.
So far it looks like an awesome community, and I hope you don't mind me hopping in.. eh erm.. taking refuge. ^_^

I currently have 2 projects in the works, "A Kitty Story" and "Stars of Mana". They're both exploration platformers.. (metroidvania, albeit I don't like using that term). It might be overkill working on 2 major projects, but I absolutely love it. :)

Not at all :) The campfire is large, and we have an unlimited supply of marshmallows and cat treats.

Hi! My name is Magik, I like to keep my online and personal lives separate, but maybe one day if it gets too much I'll smash em together in the LHC. Started programming when I was 14, started on HTML and VB, then completely forgot how to VB and started again with C, C++, C# and am currently in love with Java. Working my way through the University Of Manitoba in the CS program. I am a country boy, so dirt and computers are my life. I love making things then seeing others make it faster (or marvel at how fast it currently is) Minecraft has been a large part of my life and Gil was the one to show me this garden. Most hopefully I'll be a bit of a contributor rather than sinking to the comfortable depths of lurking. Anyways that's me \^-^/

Manitoban++

I always thought that Manitoba sounded like a made-up place. I'm not convinced it's not.

Welcome, MagikEh. Always good to see new people joining/contributing. Have any projects you're working on currently?

Not really new, but on the back burner. I've been playing around with the LWJGL and made this:
