I finally got to play this last week.

While not the most original concept, it was easily the source of more laughing than I'd encountered in over a decade. There's something deliciously magical about a game that truly doesn't give a damn about being PC. Now we have to get some of the expansions, because of course we have to. Because.

Hah. Played this once with some cousins. It gets hilarious. My favorite card was "Firing an assault rifle wildly into the air while balls deep in a hog". I mean... Come on. :)

It's very much like Apples to Apples, which we always played for the effect: being as anti-PC as possible; however, I feel that sometimes CAH falls down with white cards that are a joke in themselves--the real fun is in the pairings, making a card over the top doesn't help that.

CAH is a regular at our game nights (I have a copy, and one of the guys has the big box and all expansions). You gotta pace it though. Playing it too often takes away the magic. I think last time we played was a couple months ago. It's almost time for another. Perhaps once we get the new expansion.

It's worth signing up for their mailing list. They did a special XMAS promo last year where you got a bunch of crazy stuff, including ~25 cards, one with your own name on it. :D

Our favorite card is "Bees?".

Yeah, I agree with the general assessments. It's something to play once a month or so, and we definitely ran into those overpowered cards that are jokes unto themselves.

Did you pull the secret card from the big box?

Ahh, I hadn't really thought about that. I've only played it once, but didn't really think about how it will go after already having seen all of the best cards.

Oh yes, but it's practically cheating. ;)

I would really call the "feel" similar, because CAH is about being a horrible person. I don't think I've played dixit, but I seem to be familiar with it. I've played games "sort of" like it.

We played the new CAH expansion today. Some great new cards. We may have some new favorites.

I haven't played it, but Superfight works on the same principles and has a unique twist to it. You build a random warrior with random powers, and someone determines who would win the fight. Looks pretty damn good to me. If you're into CAH, check it out!

CAH is a lot of fun, but if you play often with the same group of people (or just often in general), it loses its comedic effect since you know what most of the cards will say. There needs to be network enabled versions of games like this so the card content can be updated regularly to stay fresh. :]
