Yeah, I do programming too.
So what am I doing? It's a minirpg like in the old days. I meant too wait a while longer before making a dev log for the project - until I have proper graphics some screenshots and a title, but I have almost finished the whole fighting engine in a matter of an hour or two. That made me quite excited and had to share.
You will control one character on one mission, gaining exp and killing bosses. I will try too make it a funny little game to play. Hopefully I will have some screenshots to show you guys later on this week.

Cool, another RPG! Do you have any obvious indie or commercial inspirations behind the game's style and mechanics, or will it be something totally unique? I'm hoping someone will eventually do a really nice Phantasy Star-esque game.

Well, I'm mimicking my own old games - The Tales of Sophy/Torsin/Griffin, that was inspired by the old FF and dragon quest as well as DD's QBrpg's.
This isn't any big project, it's only a way to get myself started again.
When I have finished this project I will continue my work on the sequel to The Tales of Sophy that also has the same style. After that I will do something new and perhaps original.

Did I say that? I obviously meant next week.

I have not been doing anything with the graphics this past week. Haven't really been able to do anything with the project. I have had much jobstuff, overtime, torments and eternal damnation.
I have done some coding theese past days thought - on the fights and menus. Naturally I managed to code badness bringing me bug that I have to pin down and kill.

Aren't we all hoping for that?

This has me wondering if threads marked as Dev Logs should have some option to autoping the user in PM that they haven't responded or updated in some set amount of days. ;)

I'm sorry friends. Maybe I should have waited posting this thread for awhile longer in the first place but at the time I was up at steam.
Now, a month later I have had time to do... almost absolutely nothing on the gfx department. It sometimes feels like I spend all my waking time at work :/.
Perhaps I have time to do something this upcoming weekend.

Try taking a stab at the monthly challenge to get your game dev juices flowing before you think about a huge project (even though this one is mini) like this one. I find it helps to get in gear with something small and easy instead of trying to figure out the entirety of a project at once. Big daunting things crush motivation.
