I wonder if they were thinking about Microsoft instead...

Lol. It wasn't enough that they shipped the console with broken hardware, now you update the machine make it even more unstable.

I'd like to dedicate this to sonrisu

He shakes the machine
Looking for his orange drink
But no can is seen

He paces the floor
Curse words are all he can think
Enraged to the core

He reels his fist
The machine delivers pink
His eyes start to mist

He waves a white flag
Steps from insanity's brink
Lets his shoulders sag

No soda today
The machine has won this stink
He leaves in dismay

Holy Horse!!! That was great :D

Also, that new error pretty much solidifies the fact that I won't be buying a 360. The RROD already had me too scared to buy one but now this? Forget it, I can't justify gambling $400 (or whatever they cost these days) on an entertainment product.

*pats Wii* Don't worry, I won't replace jooo

Neat idea, but I don't believe the raw processing power and bandwidth exist right now.

Edit:

Now... if I'm thinking of this correctly, what's happening is the "game" is being played wholly on their servers, and you're being fed a high quality video stream in real time showing you what's happening. The problems begin when you start running out of bandwidth, or they start getting hosed on processing power when a bunch of people hop on at the same time.

Not to mention lag.
I don't see this lasting long at all. Sure it would work for the most basic of games, but then those kinds of games can easily be downloaded.

You could play games that your own machine couldn't handle. But then those are going to be sluggish due to network restrictions anyway. On top of that, it'll look like ass due to video compression.

Reporters on the news were talking about this like it was going to replace the consoles and everything. I couldn't help but laugh. It's a solution looking for a problem.

Yeah, I have the same feeling about it.
I'm not a fan of the idea, plus that I really do like physical products.

And now something different as in - 'Eh, if you can't beat them, join them?' http://gear.ign.com/articles/965/965841p1.html
Can't say I like the design of that xboxmote.

In case you missed it, Wii got an update a couple days ago. Downloaded games can now be downloaded/copied to/ran directly on SD Cards!

This is good news for people who've filled the Wii's built in storage (which isn't hard to do with the number of games now available at the Wii Shop).

PS2 for $99. I might pick one up since mine is on its last legs and there has got to be a decent second hand market so I can pick up a few older decent games.

Any recommendations for PS2 gems? I did a quick Google for top PS2 games and they were terrible. Monkey Island? Burnout 3? Most top lists consisted of platform games which were all done better on other platforms.

OnLive looks interesting, but it seems like the sort of thing that won't work in the USA until we get better broadband. I too like the idea of "ownership" (of console, games, etc.), but with the way things have been going lately we probably won't "own" anything (to my dismay). I'm sure the big publishers love these sorts of ideas, because it takes even more control away from the customer.

Might be awesome if I lived in Japan or Korea with 100mbps connections for $10/month or whatever.

Oh wow. I thought the consensus was that OnLive were just a bunch of scammers. I guess I should keep my mouth shut. *shrugs*

PS2 Games, Disgaea was a pretty good exclusive (though there's PSP and DS versions now).

I'm not a PS2 expert, but I can throw out some suggestions:

Viewtiful Joe (awesome, but hard as hell)
God Hand (awesome, but hard as hell)
Persona 4
Kengo: Master of Bushido
Disgaia (haven't played, but everyone and their mom loves it)
Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence
Ico
Silent Hill 2 (PC version is really nice, though)
Echo Night Beyond

Burnout 3 is awesome, though.

Katamari Damacy should be experienced, if you haven't already. Ico and Shadow of Colossus too, if you can get 'em cheap. Okage if you can find it for $5'ish, a weird RPG (if you're a fan of weird).

Zone of the Enders (1 and/or 2) was a decent exclusive. I remember enjoying it at the time.

If you end up enjoying Disgaea, there's 5 other games just like it from the same people.

- Yakuza/Yakuza 2
- Sega Sports Tennis (cheap, and fun!)
- Soul Calibur 2 or 3 if you light fighers
- Metal gear
- Okami

Absolutely awesome. I always pronounce is "sue doe" though, so I can see that it didn't hit you immediately. I never pronounce it "Sue Do"

I say sue doe too, despite it obviously not being that. I also say You-ler (Euler) as opposed to Oiler.

Silent Hill Shattered Memories is coming to wii. It will seemingly be some kind of re-imagination of the first SH.

If this turn's out to be a railshooter I will scream.
