I'm finishing off the first of many Smiles ports right now, so I'm going to be brief.

Smiles for Windows Mobile 6.5 (specifically, the Samsung Omnia II).

I'm sending this off today (mere hours).

OpenGL 2.0, which includes some very plain shaders (flat color, gradient, textured, textured with colors). The GPU in the phone is a little weak, but it's still very playable. I'll be making video later.

Currently it's in English, and I have some 14 hours left to plug in my Italian translation. Why Italian? Double the chances to win. ;)

Once again smashing the rumor that GDR folks don't finish games ;)

I'm pretty sure every dev forum has that reputation, but...

English versions are sent. Now to pull an Italian localized version out of my arse.

I paid for a translation, but I did find some last minute things I missed (error messages). Google Translate, I love you. :)

Back in the day, we used to use Babelfish for missing stuff. Google's seems far better these days though.

I remember Babelfish always being spotty, but it was a far cry from nothing, which is what we had before Babelfish ;)

Sent off Italian Zen 10 minutes before the deadline. Samsung closed the contest at exactly the end time, so sadly Italian Drop isn't going to be eligible.

Oh well. I can still submit it properly.

I always liked Zen a little bit better. Part of my OCD I guess.

Zen came 4th in Italian. Drop didn't place in English.

On the plus, it looks like I'll be able to sell both English versions. I didn't think I'd be able to at first.

Oh, and I finished the "1.0" Windows PC Netbook version on Monday, and submitted it to Intel.

I find it interesting how many of the winning apps were... actually apps, instead of games. Congrats on scoring a bronze with Smiles!

Man, I wish this was the iPhone App Store... and that I didn't have to give this away for free for the next 4 months. ;)

Day 1: #66
Day 2: #31
Day 3: #18

In the UK... Poor Brits! This version of the game is in Italian! Currently featured in both the UK and Italy.

So yeah, I'm rocketing up the charts.

ANd when I said no one ever finished everything, I was just kidding :)

I think everyone on this board has at least finished one game of some sort...

For sure. I was just being playful, since I have so many years of "got nothing done" behind me. ;)

Good advertising, at least! Maybe when the "Free" period is up there will be a fair amount of Omnia's in the wild, and you'll be able to rack up some good numbers. Just out of curiosity, how many phones are supported by this particular store? Is it only for the Omnia II, or are there others?

3 phones from what I've seen, but Smiles is only for the Omnia II. I see very little mention of the other devices however. Most of the integrated PR is for the Omnia II.

I made the launch of Intel's AppUp Center (i.e. Atom App Store), announced yesterday at CES.

Read more about it here (a short blog post by me):

Some banners Samsung asked for. Different sizes for different parts of their store (website store, sync app store, and on device store).

Tip: When someone asks you for a photo, give them a square one just in case.
